Beyond the Fabric is made by woman for woman to make a living in Indonesia by sewing beautiful clothes and pants which is then sold internationally. We met many strong and independent women.
To get an in-depth sense of Indonesia’s culture, Swinburne students visited Santana Dharma University to mingle and learn the lifestyle of the local and even had the opportunity to learn the traditional instruments.
Students were much excited to visit Borobudar and Prambanan Temple. Each layer of the temple new stories unfolded and we learnt about the temple’s historical survival from earth quakes to volcano eruptions and how it has survived for generations.

Last day in Indonesia students went hiking to immerse themselves in the beautiful agriculture areas with breath taking sceneries.

Students explored the colonial history of Indonesia and specifically Jakarta. The impacts of each event has enabled Indonesia to become a harmonised country with acceptance of different religions and cultures. Students were met with much love in front if the museum and got a sense of cultural diversity.
